Month of the Young Child Parade

Aricin's preschool had a parade and celebration for the "month of the young child." You can't see it from the pics, but on the sign Aricin is holding up is a picture of him and his decorations. His preschool goes all out for these events. Bounce house, they sang some songs, and there was a visitor in a costume, but I am not entirely sure what it was and neither were the kids! But the character was handing out candy so off we went for some! We had a picnic lunch following the parade, and a good time was had by all!
It is hard for me to get a grasp on the fact that Aricin is done with preschool this month. After this, he'll be starting kindergarten, and I will no longer be the mom of preschoolers! What happened to all the time? It sure seems to have been going by so quickly!

Day of Service

This last Saturday our ward, combined with a couple others had a Day of Service to help restore and beautify a local alternative high school. This school was in desperate need of some TLC! Lots of manpower, pretty plants, and repair work later and it looks much, much better! Our family mostly weeded and helped shovel mulch into wheelbarrows and spread it into flower gardens. Christian helped skim debris (and fish) from the pond. Other things done were power washing the building, repairing the walkways, clearing more brush near a river, painting and general landscaping. "Many hands make for light work." It is so true! There were tons of people there and it was amazing how fast the place was transforming. I had to work, so we didn't get to stay the whole time but we were grateful to help where we could. And of course the boys LOVED climbing trees and playing in the gigantic mulch pile!

A little bit of Harmony

There is finally starting to be some harmony in our home with our animals! For those of you that don't know, our cat Cry Baby absolutely HATED our dog Tarzan. Was scared to death of him for the longest time. In fact in Illinois when we finally brought Tarzan out to live with us, his rejoining us was the beginning of Cry Baby's peeing all over everything problem. (That whole story would be a different post)
Well finally, after almost 5 years, it seems that Cry Baby is starting to tolerate Tarzan. That's not to say that she doesn't bat viciously at his nose when she is on my lap (she has no claws), but I think this picture shows that we are FINALLY starting to gain some ground in the turbulent dog/cat relationship of Tarzan and Cry Baby.
