We had the opportunity a little more than a week ago to fly to Utah and visit family. Niels flew to Seattle for work. I have to add that in the 4 years since we've moved away from Utah I have flown numerous times with the kids, by myself. Niels has only flown with us once! Ok, so I am giving myself a pat on the back and enjoying the fact that the boys are MUCH easier to fly with now.
Well the boys stayed with my parents and my sister and I took off to Reno to attend a Parelli Natural Horsemanship Celebration. More about my adventure will be posted in my "horsey" blog!
So the flights were uneventful (which is a good thing). The boys have a habit now of always stopping to chat with the pilots and see if they can get in the cockpit. On the way back the pilot asked their names and then did a special "shout out" to them over the loudspeaker when we were taking off. You should have seen the boys' faces, their eyes were huge with surprise! Way cool!
The boys were highly entertained by their handheld gaming units so I pretty much was able to read the whole way on the plane.
My parents took the boys all over! They were busy every day! It was a complete vacation for me! I was back in SLC for a couple days and they still stayed with my parents. (ahhhhh)
They went to Lagoon (amusement park) one day and G & G didn't even take the stroller! (gasp!). I lived in Utah for 26 years and have never been to Kennecott Copper Mines. My parents took the boys for a visit there. It is the largest open pit copper mine in the world, and I've heard you can see it from the moon. I know we sure saw it from the plane coming in!
Speaking of coming in on the plane they must have been doing training or something because when we landed Christian pipes up "There is a plane on fire!" Sure enough I look over and there is a plane completely engulfed in flames with fire trucks all around. It looked to be out of the regular runway area so my guess it was some kind of training. It was a bit unnerving anyway!
The boys also went to all the church sites as well. The church history museum, conference center, etc. Including the place where they get to act like pioneers!
Uncle Cy was also nice enough to take us all for a motorcycle ride. The boys really enjoyed it. They have been trying to go for the last few visits but the weather hadn't been cooperating. I even went which is good for me cause I haven't ridden on it since 2004/5 ish and then I only went really slow. I even let Cy go up to about 40mph this time and on some hills! See, I'm getting braver! (Can you tell that motorcycles aren't my thing?) As I was sitting on the back it was giving me anxiety to think of Kris riding on the back of that thing on the freeway and all the way to Jackson Hole and back....EEEKKK!
The boys also got to go to Uncle Tysen's work and watch Star Wars on the big screen for their own private showing! Talk about fun!
Grandpa braved the movie theatre as well and took both the boys to see "Monsters vs. Aliens" in 3-d no less. Lets just say those 3-d glasses have improved in quality since we used to go. Aricin didn't like the 3-d effect so he just took them off and watched the blurry movie!
One of the boys' favorite things to do was play with their cousin baby Ayden. Christian sure liked to tote him around and scare him (literally) to which Ayden most of the time laughed very loud! Aricin was talking to him all the time! Ayden just turned 1 and the last time they boys saw him (besides on webcam) he was 3 months old! Ayden is just starting to walk and graced me with quite a few steps. It was so fun to watch him learn to walk!
They boys were completely exhausted and are still recovering this week from all the fun they had with Grandma and Grandpa!

Got to love grandparents! We were just in Utah this past weekend, I kind of miss it :)
Lisa...what a great trip for all of you. I bet they were exhausted and extremely happy.
Are you adjusting to life at home again?
