Crowders Mountain State Park

Yesterday we headed to Crowders Mountain State Park for a family hike. We hiked the 1.7 mile (1 way) King's Pinnacle trail. Below you will see the view from the top! It was a difficult uphill, and rocky hike but the view (below) was well worth it! Niels and I were reminded of how out of shape we are still! The boys were champs. We took frequent rest stops but they both made it up and back (3.4 miles round trip) all on their own. Once at the top, they had an abundance of energy for running around the rocks and scaring their parents to death by going too close to the edge!

View from the top. We were higher than the several hawks and Turkey vulture's that were flying around.

I love the poses in this picture, especially Aricin.
A clip of the boys hiking up the trail.
As a side note in the nice visitor's center there were all the different types of animals and plants found in the park. I found out the name of the creature that I have seen living in my tack locker. It is a Southeastern Five Lined Skink. The thing is neat looking and I have seen him more than once go scurrying into my tack locker at the barn!
