1927 Lake Lure Inn and the Beach

For our big trip we stayed overnight at Lake Lure which is a Mountain lake at the 1927 Lake Lure Inn. Then we drove to Asheville the next day on a windy, canyon road to go visit the Biltmore Estate (another post later). This hotel was pretty neat. It was definitely original! The room was quite small for all of us! We had 2 queen beds with 3 adults, 2 kids, and my sister's baby! The a/c in the room didn't work all that great, so it was quite hot. This Inn was originally used for vacation for soldiers after WW2. There were people there who's family had served and they were there taking pictures and taking in all the history in the halls and rooms. They have a lot of pictures of how it used to look there both the Inn and the surrounding landscape. We also went to the Lake Lure beach across the street. Grandma didn't last long in the 92 degree heat with close to 100% humidity. She went back to the air conditioned lobby of the hotel to enjoy the art and decorating. The boys had a great time. It was very hot though! They had a waterslide and some water features as well as the "beach" and lake. All in all it was a good day that ended with me sleeping at the end of and crosswise across the bed. The boys are getting so big I can't really squeeze inbetween them anymore. I figure they are still short enough I could sleep at the bottom of the bed. It worked...

Boys in the lake. I didn't swim it smelled too much like dead fish for my liking. Christian loved it though because all the way out to the boundry it was only about to his stomach. I also didn't post a ton of Kris and the baby because (gasp) she is going to start her OWN blog! Nothing posted yet that I know of but check it out!

After this on Saturday was the Biltmore Estate. More to follow...
