Recently my grandfather on my Dad's side passed away. I don't want to sound mean, but not a big loss to me. I never knew the guy and from what I gather neither did my dad. My Grandfather and my Grandmother (the best most awesome Grandma ever and the only living grandparent I did know) split when my dad was 2. He left her for another woman and that is all I know about him besides that he was an Airline Pilot. Anyway my parents went to the memorial service for him (he died just short of his 98th B-day according to my mom) in Seattle, Washington at the Museum of Flight.
Wait, I take it back I did meet him once and I think have my picture taken with him but that is about it. Not to me what a real "grandpa" is though like my dad is to my kids. Ok back to the topic at hand...
Now for the cool part! They brought back T-shirts for the boys to celebrate their "flying" heritage. See my Grandfather and Grandma had met flying, she was an original airline stewardess (who had to be an RN then) and him a pilot for United Airlines. If I remember right they even crashed on the same plane in the Cascade Mountains and lived to tell the tale. Niels' Dad was also an Airline pilot both in the Air Force and later a commercial pilot for Eastern Airlines.
So the boys have a "flying" heritage and they absolutely LOVED these T-Shirts from Grandma and Grandpa. In fact they loved them SO much that they wanted to put them on RIGHT AWAY! (Which any of you with boys know that clothes are not usually the top of the "I love this" list) And of course I got out the camera so I could show Grandma and Grandpa how much they love this thoughtful gift (and of course the treats that came too!)
Thanks Mom and Dad for reminding the boys of their "flying" heritage."

Wow, what a romantic beginning to a relationship, it's sad that it didn't last. Left for another women, I would kill Will.
My Dad's parents lived in Iran their entire lives and even though I met them each once when I was little when they died I really only felt bad for my dad who hadn't seen them is over 20 years.
Great background. I never knew that about your dad's parents or that Neils dad was a pilot as well. Very awesome. Looks like things are going good for you guys. It's a bummer we are seeing more rainy and cold days again and summer is coming to an end. Makes me want to cry
