The Roaring '20's, a Murder Mystery Dinner

We had so much fun tonight! After living here for 7 months, we have been out without the kids twice (yep we need to find some good babysitters, and tonight I  I did!). Tonight was the third time (yes, I know we need to get out more). Our church is doing dinner groups where you sign up and rotate going to dinner at different people's houses with 6 - 8 people there. The host gets to pick the theme. So our host couple decided to do a Murder Mystery Dinner. A classic "who dunnit" set in the Roaring '20's. We had never done a game like this before. You are given information about your character, some that you give out, and some that you don't. And then there are rounds where you get more clues leading to who, where, motive etc. The fourth round you find out who did it. Our Characters? Niels is a successful stockbroker named Indy Goe (hence the purple in the tie), and I am Skye Blue, a very famous silent film star with who acts like a diva and also has an artistic personality. Funny huh? So here are the pics that we took before going to the party. Of course I didn't do my own makeup, my friend and neighbor upstairs that loves doing makeup did it for me, green eyeshadow and all! And yes, I am wearing high heels AND fishnet stockings! The best part? I got the whole outfit for under $10 by shopping the second hand stores. And doesn't Niels look handsome in his (too small) fedora hat? That lovely husband of mine DOES have a huge noggin! It was a very fun evening and a much needed break from the kids! Our assignment for food was to bring 2 bottles of sparkling grape juice and I couldn't resist getting a fun picture of us taking a swig! I told Niels to do it, but he said I needed it more. Hmmm, I wonder why he would say that?
Anyway it was nice to get out and have an adult night that involved food, a lot of fun, and some new friends. We need to do stuff like that more often!

That looks like so much fun. Congrats for going all out on the outfits, I'm sure that made the evening that much better. Sounds like you need to find another family to switch babysitting with. Every month we switch with the Wilsons (they moved to CO too). We actually switch twice, once for a date and once to go to the Temple. The kids love getting together and its free!

Yeah we do need to switch, it makes it that much easier since you already knew the Wilson's! That is our problem it takes time to get to know people. How fun that you can switch enough for date night AND the temple, that is great!
