The Small Miracles in Life

Ok, so I couldn't leave this out. Keri my nugget, this post is for YOU. Everyday things turned exciting! :)

So "when it rains, it pours" Right?
Well yes. Ok so I was trying to get the documentation together last week for our mortgage loan (real fun stuff huh?) and as I was copying our W-2's the printer/scanner/copier just DIED! Dead! No power, no nothing. I tried unplugging it at every place it had a plug (I didn't realize it had at least 3, why so many?), I tried rebooting the computer, no dice. UGH! What else CAN you do to revive a printer, didn't I get it all? So I had Niels check it. Nope it really IS dead. Ok, so I really don't want to have to replace this thing right now, it is just REALLY bad timing I mean with trying to get a house and all the other financial stuff that comes with it, not to mention the 2 house thing in general. Besides, I just bought ink cartridges for the thing. Have 2 left. Any of you that have these inkjet printers know that those things aren't cheap! It's almost like having to buy a new printer every time you get the cartridge pack. Ok so not really that bad, but still... So I figure it can just wait. For the next 3 days I run to Niels' work to sign, fax, blah, blah blah. Niels' work is 1/2 hr commute from where we live one way. So of course we finally get everything in order and sent off (house is another post to follow...)
Now the funny part...
Well it decided to rain the other day. Not just a sprinkle rain, but a downright downpour most of the day kind of rain. We needed it! Yeah! And it let up some, enough for Niels to get home without pouring rain. But then, I sent Niels up to Target to get the Transformers cupcakes for Christian's school birthday treat it starts to POUR, and gets really windy! Illinois windy! Wow! I'm not used to that anymore! And then, BOOM it happens, the power goes out as I am sitting on the computer trying to find Aricin a preschool that doesn't cost $600/month (choke, choke, gasp!). As soon as the power was down, it came right back up again. And then I hear it, like magic!
The sound of the printer rebooting.
A resurrection! Our printer just sprang back to life, just like that! From dead, non working hunk of junk to useful wonderful working machine.
I almost didn't believe it. It was a sound I was used to for so long but then I thought "it can't be the printer, it's dead." But it was. And I am grateful, because that saves me the several hundred dollars for now that I would of had to use to replace it. I am grateful for small miracles.

Thats awesome, too bad the storm didn't come a little sooner. Next time around you should think about a laser printer, more expensive in the beginning but not having to deal with ink refills has been awesome! We just replaced our toner for the first time after 4 years of use!

Yeah, Niels is trying to convince me to switch to a laser printer. I am seriously considering it!
